Hardware required for tablet connection?

by tmcg » Sat Feb 07, 2015 5:11 pm

I have a Sparky and would like to try using the android tablet GCS through wireless connection (bluetooth?). What hardware do I need to connect to my Sparky, and through which port/interface on the Sparky?

Thx.

You can go with the mainport that is marked rx/tx which makes for a quick start. One of the cheap JY-MCU type BT modules works fine with it. Set the mainport to telemetry and connect module flipping rx for tx and vice versa. If you plan to use default settings then you will have to reprogram BT dongle using a usb to ttl converter so get one of those also if you don't have one. Set BT module interface speed to 57k. Pair BT module to mobile device and they should talk. Make sure to use android gcs version that matches firmware version or you will get uavo mismatch error. If modules have header pins you will need 4 wire cable with dupont plugs on end and having extra cable is recommended.

Is there a mobile gcs package available that matches current Next? Using the Google Play version, I am getting an error (failed to load uavo set).

Android GCS is packaged with the Linux builds, iirc.

You know I had never even bothered to look inside the Linux package. Thank you VArcht for sharing that useful bit of info :D
