Re: TauLabs on Naze32Pro

by Yamin » Thu Oct 29, 2015 12:58 am

I am unable to flash naze32pro firmware into my board.
I have naze32 pro (full) board Rev5 and I was able to flash it with TaoLabs fw_naze32.bin (locally built; latest next branch ) using "Flash Loader Demo" V2.8.0 . My FW file was under 100k,

When I tried to do the same on fw_naze32pro.bin (built locally naze32pro branch) it was not working (PWR led on only) . I noticed that the fw_naze32pro.bin size is around 200k and also noticed that the FLD tool can only flash 128k max so I guess that is why .

I was able to flash my locally build bl_naze32pro.bin or / bu_naze32pro.bin (16k) to the board, but still Taulabs GCS software would not detect it in rescue mode

I tried to use other flashing tools to flash my board like DfuSe v3.0.5 however it would not detect the DFU device and I only see CP2102 UART as a USB drive connected. (I try to build in linux ubuntu 64 VM , and mac, and flash on my window 7 VM/ Linux dfu-util )

I flashed my naze32 board with cleanflight just to check on the board and it worked fine. it also worked anytime I flashed it with TauLabs fw_naze32.bin using "Flash Loader Demo .

I am not sure what I am missing here, been working on this for three days. Please help

Thanks

The Naze32Pro board is not the same as a Naze32 Rev 5. The Pro is an F3 processor, the Rev 5 is an F1. The code is not compatible between the two. You need to use code for the Naze32 board, in this case fw_naze32.bin is the correct firmware.

That make a lot of sense now!. Thank you.

How much effort needed to upgrade naze32 branch to full by enabling theses hardwares

A Barometer (altitude/Pressure sensor) (MS5611)
A 3-axis magnetometer (HMC5883L) (compass)
16Mbit onboard SPI flash memory (EEPROM)

I looked into this file TauLabs/flight/targets/naze32/fw/pios_config.h
//#define PIOS_INCLUDE_MS5611
//#define PIOS_INCLUDE_HMC5883
are commented out and is not implemented yet

There's not enough RAM to enable these things without trimming some other stuff down, at least not if you want to keep autotune (currently not working correctly on F1 anyway, but hopefully will be again soon).
