Looks like AT+NAME is the only correct shared command between the two. AT+BAUD is valid but wrong baud rate.

icee yes the two do share a lot of commands from the full list.

Ok so perhaps my original idea is not so easy since there is no power at the flexi port. Is there some reason the android gcs will not do BLE also? peabody had made the change but it is not complete?

Hi Pug, there were originally some Android BLE changes in this PR: https://github.com/TauLabs/TauLabs/pull/1791, looks like they were taken out though (probably to avoid bumping the API version).

peabody, any chance the hardware files for the USB stick version of the Tau Link will be released?

So for the android app you need to compile it from this branch: https://github.com/peabody124/TauLabs/t ... linkmodule to support BLE. That didn't make it into the last release, because I need to see if I can do it in such a way it doesn't increase the minimum android requirement.

So is it still not included? If including support for BLE will knock out using a lot of devices then that should be made clear so people can deal with it. peabody124 helped me get a HC-05/06 working so I know BT is possible.

The problem is that the PR as submitted would have made the android GCS not run at all on 80% of android devices. No doubt there's a compromise API version that has BLE that would support more devices.

Thanks icee you confirmed what I had gathered from reading. So we are not going to knock out 80% of devices which means no BLE (HM-10) support for now. For taulinkmodule+bt as far as I can tell we are back to connecting a 57k HC-05/06 module to uart1 and tap 3.3v/GND off the HM-10 pads. Does that sound like a possible workaround?

Yeah there is (hopefully) a way to have BLE in there but have it degrade more gracefully on devices that are pre-5.0 android.

Just got my TLM back in my taranis and am playing with it now. Trying to check the configuration on a unconfigured module. Also, awesome work douglorenz - always great to see releasing design files let someone have fun :D

Also I do think there is a benefit of not using BLE modules if they work, because then GCS-BT connections will work. Otherwise we'll need to write code for GCS that handles that protocol which is different than the simple serial protocol.

This branch should at least establish a connection with the selected BT LE module: https://github.com/TauLabs/TauLabs/pull/1979
