Sparky 2.0 power to x8r

by Hotte » Mon May 23, 2016 11:17 am

Hi,

i got my sparky 2.0 and my frsky x8r receiver now. I pluged it via usb to my gcs and flashed the firmeware. After that i connected the x8r via RVCR-Port to RSSI. Polarity seems to be OK but the X8R do not power up.

Any idear whats wrong?

Do i need to connect external power additional to USB?

Thanks

OK, now a read through a lot of infos and i am total lost. In S.Bus, PPM, PMW, Konverterts 3 Volt 5 Volt,.....

I need help to understand how to Connect a Sparky 2.0 Board to a Frsky X8R Receiver

I am i right with the infos i collected:
1. Sparky 2 Board needs to be set to 5V for Receiver Port with solder
2. Conntect Receiver / Sparky2 = S.Bus Port / RCVR Port with a S.Bus Inverter

???

Thanks for help

You need to solder bridge the 5v pads on the bottom of the board. There's probably a resistor between them now which will give you the 5v on the positive receiver pin, but the voltage will drop too low when the receiver is attached.

Also, I don't think the receiver will power up with just USB power.

Thanks for your answer. Indeed there is a resistor between.... I will try to remove and bridge it. I already tried to bridge it just with a wire but that didnt work.
But 5V is the right voltage for the x8r?

Yeah. From GetFPV's product page:

Operating Voltage Range: 4V-10.0V

My BEC arrived and everything works fine.
Solution:
- USB Power is not powering the receiver or any bus connection for external devices
- Soldering the 5v pin after removing the resistor
- Connecting one free Servoport with 5v BEC

Thanks for help
