Problems with the PicoC module

by cmarkussen67 » Wed Sep 09, 2015 7:50 am

Hi guys

I recently updated to the 20150713 release and I am having problems with the PicoC module. After the update I can not get into the PicoC tab under "Modules" gadget. I have tried checking and unchecking the "PicoC Interpreter" option (and rebooting in between) but the PicoC tab remain grayed out. Also if I open up the PicoC gadget to edit the code then I get an Error that the PicoC module does not respond. I have attached a screen shot of this. I reinstalled the previous version and it works fine and then I reinstalled the latest version again and I the issue is back. Everything else works as expected.

Anyone else had this problem or any suggestions on how to solve this?

I see, I can read the 'colibri' in the corner.

My guess is the culprit is this commit:

commit 175781ee48354f6c8515b29cd44386f70eeee97a
Author: James Cotton <peabody124@gmail.com>
Date: Tue Mar 24 10:27:24 2015 -0500

Colibri: remove some optional modules

This removes some features from Colibri to keep
the flash size less than 256K and avoid a change
in the booloader.

This makes the code size 176K.

I can see why it'd be desirable to not touch the Colibri bootloader, because there are so many units out there and it'd really complicate upgrading for Gemini fans.

Thank you for your reply. Well that would explain it but it is really annoying since I have this application that really will benefit from a PicoC script I created. Do you know if it will be re-implemented in a future release?
