RTH on signal lost

by brat002 » Mon Mar 16, 2015 8:28 pm

It is possible to configure RTH or PH when RC signal lost? I not found in GCS action configuration for FailSafe.

Thx.

It isn't possible. People are not providing enough feedback on RTH for us to feel comfortable about using it as a feedback technique. It is great when properly configured, but if we make it a failsafe option people will use it with a badly configured/magnetically noisy quad and be disappointed when it flies away.

I am sorry, but how to provide feedback when feature can not be enabled or configured? I want to try it.

With HoTT, you can setup SUMDFS and program your wanted flight mode. But be sure not to setup an arming switch on a failsafe position. So be careful with this settings.

Yeah there are workarounds with failsafe modes on transmitters but I'm not going to encourage that.

It is possible to configure a flight mode for position hold or RTH and test that directly.

Is it possible to test failsafe with land?
Then if that works well also RTH could be to be tested..
May be we can test with a retention cable..

If you enable RTH it will end with a landing maneuver.

I have some programming skills in Python and QT and can try to add this feature in GCS if anybody can add support in firmware.
Falling from heavens TBS discovery(>1700$) is my nightmare. I am afraid to fly without PH or RTH when signal lost...

Peabody124, I think, this feature can be tested only when can be configurable through GCS.
You can mark it as extremly dangerous option for testing. Users, who it need, will use it and give feedback for you.

Please, give a chance to test and use it.

If you look on the wiki there are instructions on how to enable RTH and PH from the flight mode switch. It's already configurable from the GCS. It just isn't available as a failsafe option.

A badly configured quad casually set to RTH on failsafe flying away is my nightmare ;-) As a general rule of thumb you shouldn't be flying where you lose control of your airframe!
